First, let me tell you a story.
When I began in sales training more than 30 years ago, I had no idea how much work it was going to be for me each and every day. I hobbled along, dreading every new meeting with my prospects, and I forced myself each time using the tactics taught to me by traditional sales trainers.
Before long, I was worn out and despite all the work I was doing, my situation was seriously in distress. I needed a way to dig myself out of the hole I was in and I needed to do it fast.
So I began assessing each situation I was in, looking for a way to make my prospects happy first, and then make myself happy. I eventually realized that in order to make them happy, I first needed to figure out what they wanted and then how I could give it to them.
And that was just the beginning... I had to then develop my ability to persuade in such a powerful way that my prospects would be compelled to buy from me. And I realized that
in order for them to buy, they had to trust me and really believe in what I was saying.
It took me years and years to develop specific strategies that would allow me to quickly and easily gain the trust I needed from my prospects.
It was a grueling time, but I did it. I finally came up with a set of perfectly fine-tuned persuasion skills and I took those skills and became the number one sales person in the health spa company I worked for at the time.
And I didn't stop there. No way! I had the single most powerful weapon in my arsenry: persuasion.
I walked right into my boss's office and told him to make me a manager. And when he laughed at me, I walked out and took most of his employees with me to become the biggest rival company he'd ever come to grips with and we beat him out in a hurry.
That's what persuasion can do for you.
And not only that, it took me another decade to understand that persuasion was just the beginning. Efficient persuasion was what I discovered next. I had my own company by that time and we were doing very well. I had built a solid foundation on which I would build a persuasion empire.
